FAQs

How do I clean the Sourdough Home Plus?

To clean, wipe the outside and inside of the unit with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners as surfaces may be scratched. Take extra caution when cleaning the LCD display and the window. The shelf tray is removable and can be hand-washed with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely before returning it to the unit.

What features can I control with the app?

With the app you can turn the unit on and off, adjust the temperature, switch between °F and °C, control the interior light, and turn ECO mode on and off. Note that the app displays only the set temperature, not real-time temperature changes.

Why doesn't the temperature inside match my set temperature exactly?

The Sourdough Home Plus is designed to maintain a stable environment for your starter, not to hold a precise air temperature. Some variation between the set temperature and the actual internal temperature is normal and does not affect starter health or performance. For the most accurate reading, use a probe thermometer inserted directly into your starter after it has been in the unit for several hours.

What is the tray for, and do I need to use it?

Yes — always keep the tray installed when using the Sourdough Home Plus. It sits at the bottom of the unit and supports your starter jars while protecting the interior of the machine. The solid tray design also makes cleanup easy if your starter overflows.

How often do I need to feed my starter when using the Sourdough Home Plus?

It depends on the temperature you set. At cooler temperatures, you can stretch feedings to several days — or even once a week. See the Sourdough Starter Feeding Schedule in our How to Maintain an Established Sourdough Starter Guide.

Can I use the Sourdough Home Plus outside the United States?

Yes. The Sourdough Home Plus is compatible with 100–240V and 50/60Hz and can be used worldwide. You may need a plug adapter to match your country's outlet type.

Is it safe to leave the Sourdough Home Plus running unattended?

Yes. The Sourdough Home Plus is designed for long-term, unattended operation and can run continuously.
