I use my 1st Sahara so much I bought a second one to do bigger batches. My pups love dehydrated sweet potatoes for their daily treats. This time I bought the storage case. So easy to store.
I haven't received it yet
This dehydrator is really amazing - the engineering is remarkable, allowing it to quickly fold into an easy-to-store size and the dehydrator works really well, with easy-to-use controls. I had considered other brands of dehydrators until I found this one and I’m very happy with it. The Brod & Taylor website has lots of recipes - some are a bit vague on the amount of time/temp settings, but it is fairly easy to figure out how much time is needed for various things. I highly recommend this dehydrator!
We bought this primarily to help us deal with all of the fruit we are growing at our new house. The silicone mats were an absolute necessity for drying the blueberries, and they cleaned up easily by hand. Setting the mats aside, I went with the plain metal rack for our pears. In both cases we got excellent dehydrated fruit and berries.
One thing that did bother me a bit is that the web page points out more than once that this dehydrator allows you to set two times/temperatures so that you can start drying at a high temperature for a set period and then complete the dehydration at a lower temperature. That is nice. But it would be nice if the enclosed documentation would provide at least a suggestion on when and how to use this feature. I had to search the Brød and Taylor web site to find ‘recipes’ to find any indication of when to use the dual time/temperature option. It’s a minor thing, but if you’re going to make a point of mentioning this feature, then copy those few extra characters of ‘how-to’ into the enclosed documentation.
Anyways, the pears especially turned out so well that I’m looking forward to getting some of our apples into the machine.
