Support for World Central Kitchen

A portion of Brød & Taylor sales help fund José Andrés' World Central Kitchen and their mission to help communities and economies using the power of food.

Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) uses the power of food to nourish communities and strengthen economies in times of crisis and beyond. WCK has created a new model for disaster response through its work helping devastated communities recover and establish resilient food systems. They have served more than 50 million fresh meals to people impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world in countries including The Bahamas, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mozambique, Venezuela, and the United States.

WCK’s Resilience Programs in the Caribbean and Central America have trained hundreds of chefs and school cooks, advanced clean cooking practices, and awarded grants to farms, fisheries and small food businesses while also providing training and networking opportunities. We are proud to contribute to these efforts and all World Central Kitchen does to provide quality food, empower communities, and strengthen economies.

WCK Providing Healthy Meals

Recent efforts include relief for first responders, fire crews, and evacuated families affected by wildfires in California. At one point during the Glass Fire near Sonoma County, there were roughly 70,000 people under evacuation orders. Mobile kitchens allow for volunteers to travel and provide meals for families in need as well as the frontline workers.

Since World Central Kitchen began their COVID-19 response program, they have served more than 40,000,000 meals across the United States, Spain, the Dominican Republic, and Indonesia. In addition, they have worked to support local restaurants, providing over 17 million meals by investing back into local businesses and food providers. Restaurants devastated by the financial implications of COVID have become a valuable partner in their efforts to support communities.

Brød & Taylor Sustainable Packaging Initiative

Sustainable Packaging Initiative

Since our first product, the Folding Proofer & Slow Cooker, we have worked to use sustainable materials to package and ship our products. But reducing environmental impact doesn't stop there–decisions about production, shipping, and even warehousing all play crucial roles in how our actions affect the world. We are focused on reducing waste and inefficiency from the very creation of our products all the way to your kitchen.

Packaging for the Folding Proofer & Slow Cooker

Sustainable and recyclable packaging materials require more time and effort to create, but can greatly reduce our environmental impact. We have a Zero Styrofoam policy and are continuously working to reduce or eliminate non-recyclables from our product packing, while still ensuring our products arrive at your door in pristine condition. Both the Folding Proofer & Slow Cooker and the Sahara Dehydrator use 100% recyclable and biodegradable molded fiber to secure and protect them while shipping.
